Toronto School Trustee
Soo Wong has been nominated through appointment as the Liberal candidate in the provincial riding of Scarborough-Agincourt.
“I am proud to be carrying the Liberal banner here in Scarborough-Agincourt in the coming election,” said Wong. “I was drawn to the McGuinty Liberals because of the high priority they have placed on healthcare and education, two issues that are very important
to me. And I look forward to being a part of that team as we fight to preserve the progress we have made over the last eight years.”
The Ontario provincial election will take place on October 6th, 2011.
A strong champion for education and healthcare, Soo has represented Scarborough-Agincourt as public school board trustee since 2006. She is a Professor of Nursing at Humber College and a member of the Toronto Board of Health. She has worked hard to protect ESL programs in schools, advocate for health programs and services in schools, establish children’s reading programs, and build more playgrounds.
As a Registered Nurse (for over 25 years), Professor of Nursing, nursing home administrator, and in other professional health care roles, Soo has been a compassionate caregiver. She has the energy, experience, and ideas to make our local health care better.
As Public School Trustee, Soo successfully increased ESL education across the TDSB and secured new playgrounds, additions, and improvements to local schools. An effective manager, Soo is known to deliver needed programs on tight budgets.
Soo moved to Canada with her family at age eight. She speaks fluent English and Cantonese.
